The Event Management module aims to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge on the basic principles of staging various dynamic events, which differ in scope across a range of purposes. This module builds the fundamentals of business administration and management covering the common body of knowledge. Students develop their capability to think creatively, innovatively and critically in understanding the role of events in the context of the tourism industry. The module is designed to provide an understanding of the concept of event management. It covers an introduction to events and event management its nature and characteristics; role of events in the growth of tourism; emergence and group of events; the role of the government agencies in facilitating the industry; event impacts and legacies: contribution to society at regional, national, and international levels; event management and planning; conceptualization to execution; financial management and marketing of events; events and sustainability.
