We want to make sure you stay safe online. Recently, there has been a rise in cyber-attacks and scam attempts targeting students — including phishing emails, fake money requests, and identity theft. Please take a moment to read this important message.
Common Threats to Watch Out For
- Phishing emails: Fake messages that look like they come from the college, your bank, or a trusted service, asking you to click a link or enter your login details
- Money scams: Messages claiming you've won a prize, need to pay a fee to receive a scholarship, or urgent requests asking you to send money or gift cards
- Impersonation: Emails or messages pretending to be from a professor, college management, or IT staff asking for your password or personal information
- Fake job/internship offers: Attractive offers that ask for your ID, bank details, or an upfront payment
- Social media fraud: Fake accounts or messages asking for personal details or directing you to malicious websites
How to Protect Yourself
- Always check the sender's full email address — not just the display name
- Never share your password, ID number, or bank details via email or cha
- Be suspicious of any message creating urgency (e.g., "Act now or your account will be deleted)
- Do not click links or download attachments from unexpected or unfamiliar emails
- Verify unusual requests by calling the person or visiting them directly
If You Receive a Suspicious Message
- Do not respond, click any links, or send any money
- Report it immediately to the IT Services team at infosec@majancollege.edu.om
- Delete the message after reporting

نودّ تنبيهكم إلى تزايد عمليات الاحتيال الإلكتروني التي تستهدف الطلاب، بما فيها رسائل التصيد الاحتيالي، وطلبات الأموال الوهمية، وانتحال الهوية. يرجى قراءة هذه الرسالة بعناية لحماية أنفسكم.
أبرز التهديدات الشائعة
- التصيد الاحتيالي (Phishing) — رسائل مزيفة تبدو وكأنها من الكلية أو جهة موثوقة، تطلب منك النقر على رابط أو إدخال بيانات تسجيل دخولك
- عمليات النصب المالي — رسائل تدّعي فوزك بجائزة أو منحة وتطلب دفع رسوم مسبقة، أو طلبات عاجلة لإرسال أموال أو بطاقات شحن
- انتحال الهوية — رسائل تنتحل صفة أستاذ أو إدارة الكلية أو قسم تقنية المعلومات بهدف الحصول على كلمة مرورك أو معلوماتك الشخصية
- عروض العمل الوهمية— فرص مغرية تطلب بياناتك البنكية أو الهوية أو دفع مبلغ مسبق
- الاحتيال عبر وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي — حسابات وهمية تطلب بيانات شخصية أو توجّهك لمواقع ضارة
كيف تحمي نفسك
- تحقق دائمًا من عنوان البريد الإلكتروني الكامل للمرسل
- لا تشارك كلمة مرورك أو رقم هويتك أو بياناتك البنكية عبر البريد أو المحادثات
- كن حذرًا من أي رسالة تثير الاستعجال مثل: "تصرف الآن وإلا سيُغلق حسابك"
- لا تضغط على روابط أو تحمّل مرفقات من رسائل غير متوقعة
- تحقق من أي طلب غير معتاد بالتواصل المباشر مع الشخص المعني
عند استلام رسالة مشبوهة
- لا تردّ ولا تضغط على أي رابط ولا ترسل أي مبالغ
- أبلغ فريق تقنية المعلومات فورًا على infosec@majancollege.edu.om
- احذف الرسالة بعد الإبلاغ عنها
