The competition:
The students have to present their ideas through overall designs, texts and illustrations. A hard copy of the designed poster must be available for the event. The poster size must not exceed the given size.
Potential Participants
This event is open for all the students across the faculties, including the foundation students. The students must form a team of two (one team will have 2 participants) in order to participate in this event.

You may choose a theme from the above list.

The poster must be A1 size (24” × 36”) and not to be exceeded.

Posters must be printed.

Include creative elements in the poster.

Information should have a logical flow.

The contents must be clear.

There must be consistency in the colors and the font sizes.

The title banner must contain the title of the work.

Do not include the author’s name in the poster.

Submit the hard copy of the poster on the previous day (24th APRIL 2016) of the event before 4:00 PM.

Do not use offensive languages in your poster.

Aim and Objectives
The Web Design Competition helps in empowering the creative &technically proficient web savvy minds. It provides a platform to showcase creative abilities via the power of the internet.
The objective is to
- To enhance creativity and web designing skills.
- Inspire students towards full development of their potentials in enhancing their skills.
The Completion Scenario
Advances in technology are quickly paving the way for smart cities. A smart city is an urban center that harnesses technologies, such as IT, to improve the quality of life of residents, manage available resources such as roads and water in economically sustainable manner, and reduce environmental pollution.
The participants of the completion has to design a web page on the topic
“Muscat Smart city through eTransformation”
Potential Participants
Students currently registered in level 2 and level 3 are eligible to join this competition. Two members are allowed in a group. 10 Groups are allowed in the competition.
General Guidelines and Rules:
- Students have to design a web-page on the specified topic provided.
- The groups should bring the required material for the web design (Text, images, audio, video, animations etc)
- Lab equipped with Visual Studio.NET 2013, notepad++ will be provided.
- A maximum time of sixty (60) minutes is allocated for the competition
- Memory stick having the above material for the competition should be submitted to Lizwin/Suad in Room No 216 on 24th April, 2016
- Judgement will be done based on Content,Aesthetics and Design
- The decision of the judge is final and irrevocable.

Objectives
- Investigate the given network configuration.
- Evaluate a network policy and plan an ACL implementation.
- Configure numbered extended ACLs.
Introduction
Extended ACLs are router configuration scripts that control whether a router permits or denies packets based on their source or destination address as well as protocols or ports. Extended ACLs provide more flexibility and granularity than standard ACLs. This activity focuses on defining filtering criteria, configuring extended ACLs, applying ACLs to router interfaces, and verifying and testing the ACL implementation.
The Competition
The competition includes 2 participant per group. It is designed for students to display network security skills by planning and applying rules for ACL implementation in a given scenario.
Terms and Conditions
- The competition will be done in groups. Each group will have two (2) participants.
- The group who completes the task first with correct configuration will be declared as the WINNER of the event.
- Maximum time to complete the task is 1 (one) hour (60 minutes), if no group completes the task within time allotted, the group with most (correct) configurations will be declared as WINNER.
- The event manager will signal the start and press the timing device.
- Discussion and/or carrying any material (such as book, laptop, USB) from outside is not allowed and will lead to disqualification.
- Use of Mobile phones during the event is not permitted and it may lead to disqualification.
- The Event will be conducted in restricted environment having no access to internet.
- After completing the participants should ensure that the activity file is saved and stored in the network (W:\) drive.
- Judging of the networks will be done after the allocated competition time.
- The 1st and, 2nd place winners are determined based on the scores provided by the judges.
- The decision of the judge is final and irrevocable.
