The Land Transport Management Module aims to develop students understanding of the appropriate management aspects in Land transport operations management; provide an understanding of the relationship between logistics and Land transport management and the basic principles underpinning the movement of goods and passengers; and evaluate the various modes in which the legislation, economic, social and demographic factors all affect the governance land transport services. Logistics undertakes a systems methodology to a wide selection of activities for example materials handling, warehousing, traffic management, inventory control, and packaging. The module is designed to provide an understanding of the concept of Land Transport Management. It covers the role of land transportation in the logistical chain, detailed vehicle costing and control; financial aspects of vehicle purchasing, management and replacement; client service and marketing of transport product; and analysis of current land transport legislation. The module has a strong component and allurements on many disciplines to produce graduates with problem solving, analytical, teamwork, and communications skills.
