Dear students
The Global Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence (AI), developed by UNESCO in partnership with LG AI Research and made available globally through Coursera.
The MOOC was officially launched on 20 July 2026 in Seoul, Republic of Korea, by UNESCO Director-General Khaled El-Enany; Dr Kyung Hoon Bae, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and ICT of the Republic of Korea; and Dr Woohyung Lim, President of LG AI Research.
The Global MOOC represents an important step in translating the UNESCO Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence, adopted by UNESCO’s 193 Member States in 2021, into practical knowledge and skills. Designed for policymakers, engineers, researchers, students, public officials, entrepreneurs and other professionals working with AI, the course addresses practical issues including bias, risk assessment, human rights, human oversight, accountability, privacy, fairness and safety. It is free, self- paced and accessible to learners worldwide, with a pathway to certification.
