9th University Scholars Leadership Symposium 2018 - Interested?

What is it?
The USLS is a week-long Leadership Conference in Social Development for young leaders from all over the world. It will be held at the Conference Centre of the United Nations in Bangkok, from 1 to 7 August 2018. We suggest you to watch a short video of the previous 2017 USLS to get an overall idea of what it is about, by clicking here.

 Program:

  1. Workshops and Parallel Sessions: They will be led by UN Agencies including UNFPA; UNV; UN-Women; UN OCHA; UN FAO; UN IOM; UN ESCAP; UNHCR; UNAIDS; and UNEP. They will be themed after 5 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). Scholars will be invited to participate by using their critical thinking skills, problem solving skills and leadership abilities while learning about the SDGs.

2. Invited Speakers: Everyday scholars will attend to a informative and motivational talks to help them find their passion, goal and improve their skills. This year we will have 8 main speakers, among which Tim Peters who dedicates his life for the past 20 years to help the North Korean refugees. Peters was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. In addition, the Former President of the UN Security Council, Professor Kishore Mahbubani will deliver the Keynote Address at the 9th USLS 2018. Prof Mahbubani serves in the Boards and Councils of institutions around the world, including the Yale President's Council and World Economic Forum, among others. Most recently, he was selected by Prospect magazine as one of the top 50 world thinkers.

3. Learning Journey: Scholars will be exposed to marginalized groups ‘ harsh reality. They will realize how important it is for them to act and use their skills for the better good.

4. Global Networking: Thanks to the global platform, students will develop contacts with professionals and like-minded people internationally.


Participation fees:
The participation fees are USD 1.177 + 7% VAT for each student selected. This includes the accommodation for 6-nights in a shared room at the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park ; 6 breakfasts, 5 lunches, 5 coffee breaks and local transportation from the hotel to the United Nations conference center.

For a group of 5 or more delegates, the fees will be reduced to USD 1.077 + 7% VAT per delegate. For more information on the fees, please click on this link.
