Dear students
I hope you and your families are well and safe. As you already know, the teaching is continuing to be conducted online using GoToMeeting. The link for all your classes is shared by your lecturers and can be found on MOVE. The recording for all the lectures is also available on the module MOVE page.
As a College we will continue to provide you with the support that is required in order to complete the semester successfully. However, It is important to understand and adhere to the following:
The in-class tests that were planned to be conducted in the College during Weeks 9 and 10 are now converted/changed to either take-home tests (timed open book exams), assignments, poster presentations, artifact submissions with presentations, and viva, online quizzes. The assignment reports will continue as they were originally planned. Each module coordinator will provide you with detailed information related to each module/assessment.
For presentations, as a student, you must appear on camera throughout the presentation. All video presentations will be recorded. The recordings are confidential and will not be shown to, or accessed by, anyone other than the small number of College staff who are directly involved in the module/programme, plus the relevant external examiner.
As is the norm, all assignments are submitted via Turnitin. You need to bear in mind that the similarity percentage of your submission can keep changing until the submission deadline, if the submissions of other students have similarities to your assignment. Therefore, the similarity percentages are not final, until the assignment submission is closed. However, if you have accurately cited all your sources and paraphrased the texts, it is unlikely you have to be concerned about the similarity percentage.
Where contract cheating is suspected a viva will be arranged. During vivas, lecturers will ask questions that arise directly from the text of the submitted assignment. For more information refer to the Student Undergraduate Handbook 2019-2020, section 4.2 and 4.3 pages 15-17.
The attendance policy in the Student Undergraduate Handbook 2019-2020 (section 2.10 pages 10-11), clearly states that “it is compulsory that you maintain at least 80% attendance for all modules that you register for. If your attendance is less than 80% in a module you will not normally be allowed to do the final assessments (i.e. final examinations, final assignment, final presentation, final vivas, etc.) and your assessment will not be marked even if submitted”.
It is your responsibility to make sure that you arrange a computer and a stable internet connection in order to attend your classes and to do your assessments. The College makes use of a variety of assessments. These include but are not limited to assignments, exams, presentations, and debates. If you require any support do not hesitate to contact your lecturers who will be happy to assist you.
We have transitioned to a digital learning model and our lecturers and students will engage with each other through a live video and audio feed. Therefore, it is prohibited to make any video and audio recordings of any students and employees of the College during online classes and assessments.
The GoToMeeting link you will receive from your Coordinator is for your use only. You should not share the link with anyone outside the class.
