Dear students,

EJAAD is working in collaboration with Oman Investment Authority (OIA) in “Rawabet” program, which aims to be the direct link between the Authority and its companies’ policies - in specific streams, one of them is the Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) workstream.

One objective of this collaboration is to raise Awareness on RDI, by engaging with relevant stakeholders and raise awareness around the subject, such that OIA develops a framework for RDI, to unlock values, compliment national objectives, and ensure its entities’ competitiveness globally.

The engagements are planned to take place with a variety of stakeholders, one of them is the college students representing generation Z who are interested in research in the OIA’s focus areas:

    • Energy, Mining, and Public Services
    • Fisheries, Agriculture and Logistics
    • Aviation and Tourism
    • ICT

We Kindly request you to participate in an upcoming RDI Workshop (students) to analyze the current state of RDI, and create a strategic improvement plan. During the workshop, we will collaboratively brainstorm the Needs, Opportunities, Improvements, Strengths, and Expectations (NOISE) of RDI.

The workshop will take place in OQ headquarter (Muscat Grand Mall) on 24 February 2022, for 2 hours and will be conducted in Arabic, the targeted number of students is 25-30.

Workshop objectives

  1. Discuss current RDI status and the local ecosystem - in OIA and Oman.
  2. Identify key aspirations and needs to enable RDI in companies
  3. Seek potential quick wins and RDI initiatives to be implemented by companies.

It is highly appreciated if you could nominate some students from your college who are:

  • Age 18-22 years old
  • Interested in research in
    • Energy, Mining, and Public Services
    • Fisheries, Agriculture and Logistics
    • Aviation and Tourism
    • ICT
  • Preferably students who have not had a chance to participate in other programs, to allow for new voices to be heard, but previous participation is ok.
  • Balanced distribution of male/female students, and preferably from spread geographical areas, allowing for more inclusion.
  • Committed to attend and participate actively to brainstorm RDI status and aspirations.
